Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Old Bangers collects, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. We are the controller of the personal data described here. (A registered controller name and address will be published here before public launch, as required by the UK GDPR.)
What we collect
- Account data — your email address and the content you create (saved searches, watchlists, alert preferences).
- Billing data — if you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe; we store only your plan, subscription reference and billing status, and never your full card details.
- Technical data — basic logs such as request metadata and cookie choices, used to operate and secure the Service.
Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR)
We process account and billing data to perform our contract with you; technical and security data under our legitimate interests in running and protecting the Service; cookie storage beyond what is strictly necessary only with your consent; and some data to meet a legal obligation.
How we use it
To provide the Service — run your searches, send the price alerts you asked for, apply your plan entitlements, process payments, and support you. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Only with processors acting on our instructions — principally Stripe (payments) and our email provider (alert delivery) — and with hosting/infrastructure providers, plus where required by law. Payment processing may involve transfers outside the UK/EEA (e.g. to the United States); where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Vehicle identifiers
Where a vehicle identification number (VIN) is on record it is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash. The raw VIN is never displayed or retained in readable form.
Retention and security
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements, then delete or anonymise it. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your cookie choice. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your rights
Subject to law you may access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. You can manage and delete saved searches and watchlists from your account, or contact us to close your account. You also have the right to complain to your data-protection regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Children
The Service is not directed at, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes and contact
We may update this Policy and will post the current version here. For any privacy request or question, contact hello@oldbangers.com.
